The brew bar
Two filter coffees on rotation each morning, ground to order. Ask which one is sweeter today and we will tell you honestly.
A day cafe, open since the spring
Filter by the cup, espresso pulled short, and a plate menu that changes with whatever the kitchen finds that week.
Why people stay
We keep the room small on purpose: thirty seats, no screens, music low enough to talk over. Come for a cup and a pastry, or settle in for a long lunch.
Today in the room
Two filter coffees on rotation each morning, ground to order. Ask which one is sweeter today and we will tell you honestly.
Six plates, written up fresh each morning. Bread is baked before the doors open and the soup is whatever the market gave us.
One shared table down the middle for solo visits and short meetings. The window seats are kept for people with a book.
The room
Plum Room began as a one-machine counter in a borrowed corner. We moved into this room because of the light: it swings across the floor all morning and softens the back wall by two o'clock.
Everything else followed from that. Tables sit far enough apart to hear your own conversation. The counter is low so you can watch the coffee being made. There is a shelf of chipped cups that regulars reach for without asking.
We are a small team and we like knowing names. If it is your first time, say so and we will walk you through the board.
Our coffee
We buy from two roasters who tell us where the coffee came from and what they paid for it. Everything is dialled in each morning before the first customer, and tasted again after lunch when the room warms up.
Hours
Walk in whenever you like — most tables are kept free for people who simply arrive. Use the form for larger groups, a quiet morning booking or hiring the room after hours.
Enquire
Tell us roughly when and how many, and we will write back with what we can hold.
